I remember reading somewhere on one of the business or medical forums I frequent (if I find the thread I will post it here) that Xango's claims have also been way out of bounds (many reps claiming all kind of cures)...no scientific proof of what they claim even though they try to direct you to pubmed.org for info on their ingredients (in particular the mangosteen fruit).
Many companies came out of the wood work claiming that they have more mangosteen in their product than xango does and offered proof...who is truthful and who is not?...who knows?!?
I also remember reading something about their compensation plan being very unfair once you reach a certain level. You kind of get stuck at the level in question as the sales volume required is quite large in order to advance.
One of the most interesting stories I remember reading is how xango got started. Seems that many of the founders of xango worked in the corporate office of Tahitian Noni company (not sure of the exact name...they sell a lot of noni juice is their claim to fame). Best to do a search of what was rumored to happen re: their planning a start-up (Xango) while working for the noni company (competitor). The noni company also decided to buy their own mangosteen company and make their own product but sell it at a much lower price than a bottle of xango. If I remember correctly according to the thread, there was even reports that they were suing each other. Not that I was looking for one, but I never heard how these lawsuits panned out. You may want to do a search on this as well. Good luck.
