Threatening legal action does as much good as jumping up and down, and throwing a hissy fit. People or companies who treat customers this way have zero fear of you and just flat don't care about your problems.

I think they rely on your frustration to make an extra buck. They ignore you until you go away, and they still have your bucks.

Since you paid by credit card, simply call up your credit bank and dispute the charge. It's easy to do and the bank takes care of the problem.

I just did this with a hardware company that sent the wrong part. They ignored my request for a merchandise return number, didn't answer emails, and lied when I finally got them on the phone.

I called the bank, disputed the charge, and then wrote a nice letter to the company telling them what I'd done. 2 hours later I had the return authorization.

Tracked the UPS shipment and when they received the part I emailed them again requesting my refund. Of course they ignored my request again, so rather than getting mad I wrote back to notify them that my next step would be to start a fraud report with the credit bank. 1 1/2 hours later, they refunded my card.

Don't threaten; do something and then let them know what you did.
