One of the more interesting "odd jobs" that I read about is professional delivery drivers. Companies that build ambulances, small fire trucks, tow trucks, and RV's often hire individuals to drive single vehicles to dealerships and even the end user. These smaller vehicles don't require a commercial or CDL license, only a good driving record and insurability. In some cases, the driver will be given expense money and/or company credit card, and sufficient driving time to make the overnight and even multi-day trips.

Some retired couples have used the driving time to take short vacations, as the one-way delivery driver will be provided a return flight home.

My local Ford dealers (and many others) also contract with drivers to pick-up cars they have sold locally, from the inventory of distant dealers. My last Ford Focus came from a dealer in the D/FW area, and my dealer send a retired couple up to deliver it back for me.

Note: Most drives are prohibited from smoking in the company vehicles, so non-smokers are preferred.

Supplemental income and/or free vacation travel, two possible options for retirees to stretch their income while seeing the country.
