Running test campaigns

Hi Steve,

I usually run a test campaign for 100 clicks. And I try to get those 100 clicks for the cheapest keyword bids I can. So I start my campaign keyword bids very low and as soon as I make a sale I'll raise the keyword bids. My formula is that I want to make at least $2 for every $1 I spend.

If I don't make a sale after 100 clicks then I move on. When I market affiliate products I'm looking for the ones that have a good conversion rate. Some times a profit can be made with only a 1% conversion rate if the commission is high enough and/or I can get very cheap keyword bids.

What conversion rate is possible?

I market one affiliate product that converts at just over 5%, but that is not the norm. Like I stated, even a 1% conversion rate is ok if it is profitable.

If I'm running a test campaign for my own products I will often go beyond 100 clicks because I'm usually making changes to the sales letter, fonts, etc., in order to increase the conversion rate. However, I will very seldom go beyond 200 clicks in my test campaigns for my own products.

My product below converts at about 3%. So look for products like mine. The ones that have an opt-in to capture names and email addresses in order to make more attempts to make a sale. I might add that the conversion rate also increased when I removed the salutation and made the sales letter look more like an article. The conversion rate also increased when I added the e-course.

Also, I might add that the a low key, more reserved design of the sales page seems to work better for me than using lots of hype, bright colored text and giant headlines.
