FIB - Scams 101

If the opportunity is so good, why not just operate it yourself?

I do apologize for attempting to post an unflattering profile of you by tying together facts and observations from multiple sources. But as an investigator, it's my habit.

Now back to the REASON I jump to conclusions the way I do after 14 years now of chasing bad guys on the Internet - the vast majority of business opportunities are misrepresented. Motives are misrepresented. Results are misrepresented. Almost nothing is as it seems on the surface. The faster one discovers the truth, the better decision one can make.

In your precise business model, I have to say 998 out of 1000 operators are con men or women. Not conning people by outright lying - many of them, but committing the crime of omission. The truth that in the Clickbank/affiliate game, most of the income goes to folks who already have high traffic sites. Joining up as a newbie leads to a high percentage of disappointment. And those operators know that, so they make their money by selling the information about how to join at the end of the game.

1 out 1000 (I estimate) might be a true philanthropist, giving away their "secrets" for nothing, as a service to their fellow man. Looking for nothing in return. My profile of true philanthropists is that they tend to be older, having made enough money to be comfortable.

And LOTS of con artists lie about being such philanthropists.

Another 1 out of 1000 might be taking the longer term approach. Giving away their "secrets" for nothing to the truly desperate opportunity seekers. Knowing that set of newbies is already desperate and poor and can't be (immediately) fleeced. This style of con artist grooms their flock for LATER fleecing.

An example of this long-range thinking was a church in our former town who ran a lot of self-help seminars. One of them was money management, and how to budget your cash flow to feel better about your money situation. Graduates of that course then feel more GENEROUS towards the church, and got hit up later for higher donations!! And you wonder my I might be skeptical about things.

The #1 question I have, for those loyal readers who have stuck with me this far is this:

"If the money-making technique is so powerful and effective, why aren't you doing it more hours a day? The exact same hours that you used to set up and run the share-with-others project?"

That's the essence of my skepticism with all opportunities in this mold. If it's so good, why share it? Why not just silently do it?

I have to conclude that most con artists see that the real money is to be made in fleecing hopeful newbies, not running the opportunity itself.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example.         In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
