It could have been a guessed password, or your daughter used a public computer at some time to access her Hotmail account and her password was snagged. Or it could have been sent via another Hotmail account - no way to tell for sure. The origination IP of the message was from 210.56.48.100, an ISP in Hong Kong.
But the clue that it was sent to all in her address book certainly points to a compromised account. If there were any personal or financial details in any email in her inbox or SENT mail items, it's time to worry about identity theft.

But the account is worth changing the password on and abandoning anyway. And your daughter can reflect on what could happen if any or all of the email in her inbox or sent mail folders were to be published in the open.
Most spammers aren't going to do that, is the good news. But it's worth worrying about.

>> it?Nah. Hotmail is owned by Microsoft, and they are soft on spammers. Change the password, get a new account, and move on. See if your daughter can stop using public computers to access her email. Every one of them should be considered as horribly infected with keystroke loggers and trojans. Heck, I don't even do on-line banking on WiFi in airports or Starbucks because of the chance of traffic sniffers trying to get my data before some of them go to encryption.
