I have lost count of how many times I have read in forums and elsewhere of people who lost the crummy job they once had, either through downsizing or injury or illness. You can only make-do for so long. When you haven't been to the dentist in many years, your thrift store clothes are wearing out again, your kids have outgrown everything again, if you even still have a car your tires are bald, and gas is $4.59 a gallon as it is down the street from me and your kid just got invited to *another* birthday party, and and and ad nauseum, you get pretty desperate. There are millions of people like this and they are just so tired of struggling so hard for so long. They have almost given up thinking there is a light at the end of the tunnel or even that there is an end to the tunnel. There is only just more tunnel.
Once a person reaches that state, the "what if" or "just imagine" approach works all too well
Shame on the scum who try to take advantage of these people instead of giving them a lift up.
