Info on My Shopping Genie

Amazing. I had posted a message back in July asking if anyone had any info on My Shopping Genie and after 68 views not one response. Might be the only thread ever to not get a response. Well I guess it was just too new and I don't think that many people know about it.

Well I have done some of my own homework and decided to post what I 've found here. When I first started looking into My Shopping Genie it started out as affiliate software for eBay which people could download for free. Whenever you did a google or yahoo search a little box would pop up at the bottom of your screen and let you know how many eBay matches there were for the search you just did. Small box and was not obtrusive at all.

So I started think what a great idea. Kind of like another tool bar and its free and if you are a rep for My Shopping Genie you would earn an eBay affiliate commission everytime someone purchased something as a result of your Shopping Genie. Checks were even supposed to come straight from eBay since the sofware was embedded with your eBay affilaite ID. Now instead of having to build websites you could just give away a free download and earn an affiliate commission when they shop. You can also earn money by building an organization off other My Shopping Genie reps. Great idea right?

Well as of August 1st My Shopping Genie has reworked the whole program. They now have Amazon, Walmart, Overstock and eBay on the Shopping Genie but now there are no affiliate commissions. eBay would not endorse the software if there was more than eBay on it. My Shopping Genie will pay you though, $1 per download up to $200 per month. As a rep you only have to pay $29 a month for your Genie license and that allows you to give away as many as you like but no affiliate commissions. Bummer. I had this vision of My Shopping Genie being downloaded onto thousands of computers all across the country and I would be making an affiliate commission everytime someone purchased something from one of the stores.

I really think they were on to something with the affiliate comissions but now if you don't recruit you really can't make any money. From my experience if all the money to be made is based on recruiting there will be problems and the average Joe won't make it.

So suffice to say I will have to pass on this one. If they rework it again and some how figure out how you can put in your affiliate code for each one of the stores then I am definitely in. My Shopping Genie is onto to something but for now I will have to watch from the sidelines.
