Posting for Steve MacLellan... (a glitch in the board kept him from posting it himself)...

In Response To: Online Work Help (Alan Barber)

I've had a lot of ideas. Many of them just from
observing what is going on
around you. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada; here is
a couple I came up with

There is a non-profit organization called "Save
the Lighthouse" -- many small
rural areas know their landmarks are in danger
because they simply aren't
needed anymore. But they don't want to lose their
lighthouses because they
are part of the community's history. I had the
idea to go around to some of
these communities and have professional photos
taken of the lighthouses
surrounded by Fall foliage, and have blown up
photos placed beautiful wood
frames. Then I would offer them to the various
local chapters so they could
auction them off or sell them to help raise money
for their cause.

Another idea I had....

There are a lot of retirees in this province. Many
of them now needing VON's
or home-care workers. But unless you're paying the
local hospital for *their*
VONs, there isn't a whole lot of organization and
sometimes these old people
are left without help of scheduling problems. So
the idea would be to
approach the seniors, find out their previous
scheduling problems and
provide a service where you keep track of all the
appointments and make
sure their problem is solved. Naturally you charge
a fee on top of what the
home-care worker makes, but they will most likely
wind up with more work
and the senior doesn't have to worry about having
to spend time alone or
looking for other alternatives on their own.

Another idea I had.

There are a lot of local dealers want to sell used
cars. I put up a web site that
could easily be found using something like
yourtownUsedCars.com. Then I
sold advertising to the dealers and put their cars
on my website. I later wrote
an eBook to show someone how to do the same
thing.

But apartments might be a better choice. See the
show room doesn't change
every week, so you take pictures once and put up a
site yourtown-
Apartments.com and charge the advertisers a
monthly fee for being listed in
your database.

This idea can be expanded on a bit. One lady who
bought my ebook was
doing the same thing for boats in Ontario.

Still, you could take this farther and get into
buying and selling yourself.

Another idea I had.

A good friend of mine is an excellent welder of
30+years. We have been
thinking of putting up a website and selling
design ideas to other welders who
want to make and sell decorations/crafts that have
been welded.

I don't have a lot of time to explore some of
these ideas. See, I work full-time
from my home office building websites and
maintaining them. It pays me 3-4
times more than I ever made working for someone
else. But it took me a few
years to build the business to this point. Point
is -- you have to start some
place.

Best Regards,
Steve MacLellan

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

By posting messages and/or content on the Friends In Business (Scams 101) Message Board, you give permission for Lesley Fountain/Friends In Business/Shoestring Success Publications to display, distribute and use the posting and content for publication, advertising, promotion, excerption or example.         In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
