They lie, of course. No such thing unless they are with Amway HQ and you neglected to tell them to quit calling. I bet you're just on a list of leads that's being passed around. Merely being in Amway at the same time doesn't give the caller a vendor/customer relationship with you.

Any EBR (existing business relationship) claim, even with a bank or a newspaper you continue to to business with, can be severed for the purposes of telemarketing calls by issuing a company-specific Do Not Call demand. Plenty of case law supporting this FCC regulation.

But there's no way to sue the caller on the first violation - it requires a second call from the same perp. You can report them to the FCC, and if they see a pattern, the FCC can issue larger fines.
