I guess I can only speak as I find ... And I've found the FREE information on Clayton Makepeace's Newsletter "The Total Package" incredibly valuable.
I'm not a professional copywriter. We just run a tiny guesthouse that makes us a living (most years!).
Just one idea from Clayton's files has added some handy pocket money to our annual income.
We publish a simple "Guide to Stanley" on our website. Folk planning holidays read it, realise that one day in town isn't going to give them time to see half of it, and book a second or third nights stay.
Guests who walk in off the street get a free hard copy in their room - Theirs to take away. One or two things happen. They stay a second or third night when they realise just how much there is to do. (and/or) They come back to see more (and/or) They send their friends to us.
Other guesthouses in town can't work out why we are full so often when they still have vacancies. They ask us where we advertise, and we say "We don't - It's proven to be a waste of money"
We make no secret of our Guide, yet nobody else has taken the trouble to write one for themselves.
So thanks Clayton. And I haven't spent a cent with him yet (But I probably will, soon)
Can't speak for the others, but Clayton is the Real McCoy as far as I'm concerned! His archives and newsletters are a goldmine.
