What Roadie said pretty much covers it.
From Mexico's President down through their legislative body, exporting poor laborers without jobs to the U.S. as a means of gaining hard currency, while relieving the high jobless rate, is the best method they have for reducing poverty.
With the turmoil going on in Mexico presently, US officials have been warning students and others against going into Mexico to celebrate spring break. It's just too dangerous. And that cuts off another source for transferring US dollars to Mexico's economy.
Every illegal alien who gives birth in a US hospital, creates another U.S. citizen, with the possible option of the mother being allowed to stay for the child's benefit. Less poor people on the Mexican-side of the border, and more healthcare, education, and food stamps going to Mexican nationals at no cost to their government.
The vast majority of the estimated 10 to 13 Million illegals in the US are from Mexico. If it were possible to export just half of them to Mexico, it would bankrupt their treasury just from the US dollars that would cease to flow their.
I don't have any hard numbers for US food stamps going to illegals, but getting fake IDs isn't a problem for most who seek them. Even illegals incarcerated in state and federal prisons here mean they aren't a burden to Mexico. Healthcare 'given' to illegals are bankrupting hospitals in those states bordering Mexico, and impacting those state treasuries that have to absorb at least some of the cost.
There are so many layers of state, federal, and private dollars going to benefit illegals. Some of these are obviously diverted from programs aimed at providing for our own citizens.
You might seek info on the California deficit to see if any news stories give a percentage related to assistance to illegal aliens.
