PROTECT YOURSELF FROM SCAMS!  Research all business opportunities thoroughly, and never blow off other people's bad experiences.  Ask around (and listen!).  The Scams101 Message Board is a good place to start.  What's that?  You've found a Biz Op and you're wondering if it's endorsed by FIB?...  Not unless it's listed in MaaMaw's Magnificent Toolbox.

Note from moderator:

No offense to the OP but I feel that I needed to sanitize a small part of this post. Yes, it is undoubtedly true (as another person pointed out) that the recipe for these things can be found anywhere on the web, even on well-intentioned sites like this one. However, that does not and will never hold much water in a court of law in many circumstances. From a legal standpoint FIB could, in fact, be found liable for providing such info because using the excuse that this stuff can be found anywhere on the net and not just on this one website does not absolve a person or website or its owner from possible liability issues. Anyone who has watched the news in the USA for at least one year understands that the courts in this country couldn't care less about the innocent and the well-intentioned person, in many cases. And in a lot of cases many court decisions are downright irresponsible.

Let's just say some kid found this post. Then, out of curiosity he makes this bomb to see how well it works, and in the process he loses a finger or worse. So he tells his parents (albiet when it's too late) where he found the recipe and the partents sue PaaPaw. I don't feel it's worth getting PaaPaw in trouble even if in the end he wins such a case. That would mean the end of FIB regardless becsue I doubt PaaPaww wantws that trouble.

No, no. We won't have any of that. We will play it safe. If this recipe can be found on other sites that mean well (like your post) or not, then let those sites assume any or all the of possible liability. That's their problem.

Having known MaaMaw pretty well in the many emails and few phone conversations we have had over the last 4 or so years before her passing, I am almost certain she would have made the same decision I did. So please do not feel offended for this sanitization. It was plenty helpful enough that the snopes link was posted. If someone goes to that snopes link then finds out from there how to make the bomb or at least gets a tip from the article on how to find another site where the recipe is published, then so be it, nothing anyone can do about that. But that pretty much causes FIB to have very little liability in that scenario, if any at all.

Your post, with or without the recipe, was definitely helpful to me because I live near a busy highway and I am constantly picking up litterbug garbage from my property that could very well be one of these bombs that failed to go off for whatever reason. From now on I will kick the possible bombs far away from me to "disturb" it a bit, then pick it up at a later time. Not worth taking a chance when the precaution takes very little effort on my part.

NOTICE TO SCUMBEEZLES
(you know who you are... you scream "Foul!" when the truth comes out)
PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL NOTICE CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU FILE A LAWSUIT OR EVEN WASTE TIME THINKING ABOUT IT.  It has been done before, but never successfully.  In fact, the last dodobird who tried it ended up being ordered to pay more than $77,000 in attorney fees ($65,000+ to my attorneys and $12,000+ to my co-defendant's legal advisor).
If your attorney is worth his salt, he's going to tell you that the expense of filing a lawsuit you can't win is a whole lot worse than any "damages" resulting from messages posted on this insignificant little chunk of cyberspace.
NEWS FLASH:  I didn't just climb down off that ol' turnip truck yesterday.  I'm well aware that expressing a negative opinion, relating one's personal experience, and restating provable facts are all legal in this country and do not constitute libel, slander, or defamation -- so you don't want to play games with me, and you sure don't want to start something you aren't prepared to finish.  I don't take threats lightly, and I don't accept bribes (or did you call it a "mutually-beneficial arrangement"?).  I'll turn you in faster than you can yell, "ARREST ME, I'M SCUM!!"
Do yourself a favor and turn your legal team loose in greener pastures.

In closing, I would like to remind you once again that it is still legal, in this great country of ours, to express a PERSONAL OPINION, as long as it is presented as opinion and not as fact.
And finally, all you scammers out there will do well to remember that TRUTH IS AN ABSOLUTE DEFENSE against charges of libel, defamation, and slander... so if you're operating just a hop, skip, and jump ahead of the law, you might want to think twice before doing anything stupid... (AND SHAME ON YOU!!).
